I am taking my dreams seriously, hence I am doing this.
Whatever you will do, do it with joy! 😍
A little bit later but here I am…
HELLOOOOOO
How are you doing? I wonder how is the weather up there from where you read me?
Here in Vancouver we had a snowstorm during the weekend and today it’s snowing again.
I love the snow especially when I am at home feeling cozy, just like right now that I am writing to you and listening to “positive jazz”, a playlist I find on YouTube. I could be better, honestly, I felt sick these past days but I feel much better today.
In my last email I told you that for the last 2.5 years I tried to pursue a digital career looking for the freedom to make money on the go while travel to visit my family back and forth.
But I finally learned what Alvert Einstain said:
And this time that I am taking seriously my social media accounts and the idea to make a living from my creativity as a crochet designer, this is what I am doing different:
Before trying to sell, I am building myself credibility
Implementing a routine to make my daily life easier to boost my making-time
No longer basing my success on money. Now I do and make for joy.
#1 Before selling my products, I am building credibility.
For more than two years I tried multiple strategies and types of content.
No doubt some of you guys are wondering: what is this girl doing again?
In my past email I told you my desire to open a Patreon to sell my crochet patterns. I am aware none will put their money in a girl who tends to switch interests out of the sudden and constantly disappear from the social media.
So, that’s why I am building myself credibility by posting constantly on Instagram, Medium and sending a weekly newsletter.
#2 I am implementing a routine
For so long I thought a routine will kill my spontaneous creativity. But actually is the other way round.
Having a routine for my daily tasks has not only made me a more organized artist but also has free me. I wrote an article about.
With my partner, we now have a shopping-cooking routine. I am a finicky eater (not proud of that, tho). I cannot eat the same soup three days in a row, I need variety on my plate.
Setting up a process on my daily life feels so relief that at the end of the day I have more free time to think about and make my art.
#3 Basing my success on money no more.
In the past, I was so desperate to make money from the different digital platforms: Upwork, Fiverr and Medium.
I explained this in this email, long story short:
I couldn’t legally work in Canada while my immigration application was in process.
Now, that I have rights in this land, I am writing, I am crocheting, I am creating content on my social media because I WANT TO.
Whatever you are going to do, do it with joy, said my partner.
This time you don’t HAVE the necessity to work in anything you don’t truly believe or love.
When I was pursuing a career as a writer just for the money it left me with burnout and depression.
Please don’t get me wrong.
Making money from your art might be your biggest dream and it is totally fine. Making a living from your art is a dream we share.
But please think of all of the other motives you want to pursue this dream.
For me, being an artist and designing crochet patterns will allow me to visit my family back and forth. Over money, I want to have the freedom and chance to make money on the go.
This is basically what I am doing differently now that I am being serious about my goals.
I wonder if you and I have the same dream to make money on the go and travel. Would love to know that.
As Mr. Einsten said: If you want different results, do not do the same things. Think about your goals and the path that you are currently tracing. Is it taking you towards your dreams?
If not then it is time for a turnover but never a resignation. Want some more inspiration: Here’s my winding journey as an aspiring online creator and artist.
Thank you for reading. See you in next weekend.
